UPDATE // W.B. McGhee

Wiggle bottom sketch dump.

Thought I’d give you all an update on the webcomic. I’ve been working away on it. I have four comics written and rough thumbnails drawn for them. I’ve started drawing one of them, but I haven’t even finished my character developing sketches yet. That proved to be a problem, so I had to stop working on the comic and go back to the character developing. I guess I’m trying to run before I walk....or crawl, really.

It’s been an interesting journey. I want to try and get a comic up by July, but I’m trying to not pressure myself about it. I’m a very busy lady, what with working full time as the senior graphic designer at my day job, running this blog as my side hustle, dealing with the children’s book release stuff, trying to teach myself about podcasting, getting ready to move, delving into the world of eating better with Mr. LL (which means a lot more cooking at home and meal prep and grocery store running, not to mention budgeting/couponing) and taking care of the menagerie at home (two cats, a mischevious puppy and a baby turtle). Just typing all that made me panic, just a little bit.

GetTheWorkDone

But it’s not like I don’t get time to relax. Mr. LL and I watch one TV show episode as we eat dinner together, and we make time to see friends and family whenever we are able. This past Saturday, I went shopping by myself and bought probably too many pairs of shoes. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I have an overall mindset of “it’s going to get done when it gets done” and don’t hold myself to deadlines that are arbitrary. It keeps me sane – so does Mr. LL.

That’s not to say that I don’t have freak outs. I do. Mostly little, private ones right when I’m trying to fall asleep. Sometimes I just start cleaning the apartment or making lists because I feel like if I can’t do what needs to be done, for whatever reason, then I might as well do something else because I will just sit and fret.

I’ll be posting less rambling updates on the webcomic in the future.

Webcomics Lazy Lady

I love webcomics. I read a lot of them and I wanted to do a special #FollowFriday to share with you some of my favorites.

Questionable Content, by Jeph Jacques, was the first webcomic I started to really follow. It is definitely in my top five, if I actually had such a list. It is about the lives of Marten, Faye and all their friends in an ever growing cast of characters (that includes a very rude robot). It's funny and sometimes very "real".

Scary Go Round was actually once a webcomic called Bad Machinery, but the cast grew up and now we are on to a new group of youngsters (who are in the same world as Bad Machinery). There are mysteries to be solved, adventures to be had, and growing up happening all around in this webcomic by John Allison.

Hark! A Vagrant, by Kate Beaton is a must read. I've done a post about her on the old Lazy Lady. Her humor is on point and her comics are both smart and ridiculous. I love this webcomic and always find myself wanting more every time there is a new post.

Camp Weedonwantcha, by Katie Rice, is the winning webcomic from Penny Arcade's Strip Search. Mr. LL and loved watching those episodes (and wish they'd do a season 2!). We were rooting for Katie to win and her webcomic is fun and beautiful. Be on the look out for hidden cats in the strips!

Johnny Wander is by the power due, Ananth and Yuko. Sometimes it is journal comics and other times it is a story line from different works they are producing. I really like Yuko's art style. The stories they produce are very nerd/alternative based in their themes and right up my alley.

I have so many more webcomics to share! If you are interested in more recommendations, let me know in the comments!

Wiggle Bottoms

WiggleBottoms

I have come to the conclusion that my life is too boring to inspire me to draw journal comics. So, instead, I'm starting a new webcomic staring Bigby as W. B. (Wiggle Bottoms) McGhee.

I want to have a good amount of comics drawn and honestly, I'm still in the beginning phases of this project. So, until The Misadventures of W. B. [Wiggle Bottoms] McGhee is ready to go live, I'm going to be sharing progress updates and sketches/behind the scenes stuff as I go. Why have I decided I need more on my plate? Who knows. Till next time!
