Trick or Treat /// Week 3! Final Round

This is the final post for this year's Trick or Treat series! This has been a blast! If there was anything I didn't get around to reviewing this year, leave a comment and I'll add it to next year's list!

Mr. LL and I took a trip to our local World Market and created our own six pack of seasonal beers! We also paired our beer taste testing with some seasonal sweet potato chips! Keep reading to find out what we thought about all these boozy treats!

As we started this journey with this New Belgium seasonal Pumpkin beer, we were reminded that neither of us really like beer. This makes us not the greatest judges for these beverages, but we were fair with our assessments. This beer smells really good and it mostly tastes like various pumpkin spices as opposed to actual pumpkin. It's not bad and I wouldn't try to dissuade anyone from giving it a try.

Woodchuck! I love Woodchuck's hard ciders, so I was really excited to try this seasonal pumpkin flavor. This was almost a trick for Mr. LL because it is sweet. I mean really sweet. But of all the "pumpkin" beers we tried, this one actually tasted like real pumpkin. I really enjoyed this seasonal treat.

First, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this beer. It is a perfectly acceptable amber ale (if not a little too bitter for my taste). The reason we marked this as a "trick" is because we were fooled by the packaging and the placement in the store into thinking this was a seasonal beer. It isn't. Shame on us.

I'm going to be honest, I don't remember a whole lot about this beer. I didn't take any notes like the others (maybe because it was the last beer we tasted and by then I was a tad bit tipsy). However, I do know that it is sitting in our fridge, open, and barely touched. Must not have been too good if we both refused to take more than a sip from it.

The highlight of the entire 2015 Trick or Treat series, for both me and Mr. LL, were these AMAZING sweet potato chips! And let me say, I do not like sweet potato anything, but I loved these chips!! They weren't too sweet, had a great texture and are totally addicting. We found these at Target, but they may be in other stores.

That's it for this year's Trick or Treats!! I hope you've enjoyed this series and happy haunting!

Trick or Treat 2015! /// Week 2

This week's Trick or Treat is full of sugar, sugar and more sugar! I had to brush my teeth twice after we tried out all of these treats, but this was, surprisingly, a good batch of seasonal/Halloween candies!

First up, we tried out the Caramel Apple filled Twizzlers. Mr. LL didn't realize they were filled until we got home, and his heart seemed to break a little. He is not a fan of the filled Twizzlers. I'm not a huge fan of Twizzlers in general, however, these were delicious. We both really enjoyed them. Even Bigby enjoyed them, as Mr. LL would squeeze out some of the caramel filling and stick to the top of the little guy's mouth.

Again, another seasonal treat that neither of us are huge fans of, but these specialty flavors were really good! I especially liked the Caramel Apple Peeps and Mr. LL seemed to enjoy the Chocolate Mousse cats the most. So, even if you are not a Peeps fan, like Mr. LL and myself, I recommend giving these flavors a try.

Ok, so as we only got the one lollipop, I was the only one to really try it. I say it's both a Trick AND a Treat. It's a trick because 1 – the fun, colorful face art is a sticker on the inner packaging and 2 – I, for some reason, thought it was white chocolate...it isn't. But it is a treat because the plain skull under all that packaging still looks pretty cool and the simple, vanilla sugar flavor is good. Still wish it was white chocolate though.

Trick or Treat 2015!

Last year, on the old Lazy Lady, Mr. LL and I tasted all the weird and seasonal candies/treats we could find and rated them as either a "Trick" or a "Treat." Well, it's that time again, and we could not be more excited for our favorite husband/wife collab segment on the blog!

Lazy Lady Trick or Treat

Each week, I'll be posting Trick Or Treat and letting you know what made us sick by being gross and what made us sick because we couldn't stop eating it. First up, we have Brach's Peanut Butter Cup Candy Corn and three flavors of Hammond's candy bars!

Lazy Lady Candy Corn

Mr. LL and I both agree that this very promising flavor of a (IMO) disgusting Halloween tradition is a TRICK!! We had some Starburst candy corn last year and it redeemed candy corn, so we had hopes that this new seasonal flavor would do the same. Our trust was misplaced. Unless you are a fan of peanut butter flavpred wax, don't waste your time or hard earned cash on this lie.

The first time I found Hammond's chocolate bars, Mr. LL and I loved all their "weird" flavors (Potato Chip chocolate bar? Yes!). So, of course I got every seasonal flavor they had on display. Sadly, overall these were a trick, but not, necessarily, in a gross way. The caramel apple one just tasted like chocolate to me with a hint of a caramel center. Mr. LL thought tit tasted like rotten apple, though. Mr. LL proclaimed the candy corn flavor a "treat" but I say "trick", because it too sweet. Finally, unless you love pumpkin spice flavored dark chocolate, the pumpkin spice bar is a trick. In all fairness, though, it tastes exactly like it says it would.
