I don't know what's going on with me, but I'm slacking! Things are getting better, but I had a slow start to doing my daily tasks this week. Today was the first day I made the bed since I changed the sheets on Sunday. Actually, I just pulled the comforter up, but it's better than nothing! Man, I did not want to write this post, but that's the point of the mid-week check ins, to hold myself accountable.
Weekly Goals - Holiday Edition
So, after my mid-week check in, I kinda didn't do my daily tasks AT ALL for the rest of the week. Insert sad trombone sound here. As far as doing the weekly task, yeah, that didn't happen either. SMH. I don't know what's going on, but I got to get better so this house looks at least presentable come Christmas day. Speaking of, Christmas is coming faster than I would like it. I am SO not ready. Ugh. I still have to do shopping and we still need to get a tree. Plus, this year we are finally going to put up some outside decorations. We were here in this house last year, but didn't decorate outside except for a door decoration that Bigby promptly destroyed after the season. We can't do lights outside because there aren't any outside outlets in the front of the house. Honestly, I'm fine with that because I don't want the higher electric bill.
Anyway, on to the lists! My daily tasks are:
- Make the bed EVERY DAY.
- Put away the clean dishes in the morning.
- Spend 10 minutes a day on dishes.
- Do something laundry related every day.
- 10 minute pick up before bed.
For my weekly task:
- Clean the bathroom
I'm not going to add another weekly task because I have some holiday specific tasks I need to get done this week:
- Get a Christmas Tree & Wreath
- Decorate the tree and outside
- Wrap presents
- Go shopping for more gifts and wrapping
Ok, so I might not necessarily HAVE to get all of those done this week, but I want to get all of those done this week.
Mid-Week Check In
I've actually been doing pretty good with my daily tasks this week. I'm still forcing myself to do them, but I'm getting them done. I'm also catching myself doing something that is truly lazy. I'll be in a room and see something that needs to be picked up (to be put away where it actually goes, to be thrown away, etc.) and I'll think to myself "huh, that needs to be picked up" and then just walk out of the room. I'm sure I've been doing this for, oh all my life, but I'm becoming aware of this bad habit. I'll start to walk away and think "seriously? Pick [insert item here] up!"
SMH.
It's a learning process.
