Lazy Cleaning

Baby Steps Cleaning Challenge 2 /// Week Two

SUCCESS! I smell fresh! Well, I never stank before, but you know what I mean. I think Summer is the best time to incorporate this into my routine because I get so hot and sweaty some days that I just really really want to shower.

On to week two...

WEEK ONE: Shower more.

Week Two: Change the sheets! Again, I'm not so slovenly that we never change our sheets; however, I do admit that we only change them about once a month. I want to make that once a week. Can I do this? We'll see. The real challenge will be the week after this, if I'm honest, because that means I'll need to wash the sheets (we only have two sets of sheets).

Cleaning Challenge: Baby Steps 2!

First, let me recap what happened last week. I failed. MISERABLY. I didn't clean the bathroom or scrub the walls. We sort of cleaned the floors, at least Mr. LL did, but not to the extent I was imagining. Sigh. I also didn't make the bed a couple of days. Didn't put away the laundry a couple of days. Didn't do the 15-minute pick-ups either. Basically, at the end of last week I was just lethargic and apathetic about everything. But, these ebbs and flows happen and I'm not going to let it stop me from getting back on the cleaning wagon!

So, I'm going to get back to doing the three daily tasks I already started doing (and had a set back with) but now I'm going to give myself some new challenges! Let's see how that goes.

WEEK ONE: Shower more. I think it's pretty obvious that I am a lazy individual, and my personal hygiene habits are not the best. I shower regularly, but I'm not adverse to missing a few because "I just don't feel like it." I just need to remind myself that taking hair washing out of the equation is TOTALLY an option. That's the main culprit in making me put my lazy pants on. The other is state of the tub after Mr. LL gets to it. So, I'll have to figure that one out since I didn't get around to deep cleaning the bathroom last month. Anyway, to break it down I'm going to shower every other day, WITHOUT FAIL for a week. I can do this.

• Week Two: Change the sheets every week.

Cleaning Challenge: Baby-Steps /// Week Four

Last week's challenge was to put away the clean clothes. This week's challenge was kinda too easy. Like I said last week, I had already started doing this, so it didn't really feel like a challenge. I guess it was a good practice in keeping these tasks in my daily routine, though.

On to this week's challenge!!

The Baby-Steps Cleaning Challenge

• WEEK ONE: Make the bed EVERY morning. Including weekends.

• WEEK TWO: 15 Minute Pick Up.

• WEEK THREE: Put away clean clothes.

• WEEK FOUR: Deep clean 3 "things". This isn't really adding to my daily routine. I'm still doing the challenges from the previous weeks, but I knew I needed a week of "maintenance" mode to see if I could really make them habits. By that I mean, I needed to not add anything else to my routine for a bit so I could really get what I have into the rotation. However, I didn't want this week to just be "see if I can still do all this other crap" so I decided to tackle some things around the house that could really use my attention.

  1. The Bathroom. Mr. LL actually keeps the bathroom pretty clean, but he never cleans the shower. Like cleans it the way I like it to be cleaned. As in SCRUB THAT SHIT DOWN TILL YOU COULD EAT OFF IT clean. I'm very particular about my shower/tub situation.
  2. The Walls. With Bigby and a husband who is a plumber, our walls get dirty. So I just want to scrub them down.
  3. The Floor. We have three pets. And we BOTH have long hair. The floors are over-due for a good, thorough, cleaning.

This is the last week of the challenge!!! I'm going to do a recap next week. Next month, I think I'll come up with either more Baby-Steps challenges or a new cleaning challenge all together. I like doing this as a challenge because it makes it feel like a game. I love games. :)
